The Mechanic’s Workstation

One machine. The whole job.

The WSM4 Workstation is a 30 tonne air/hydraulic press, a spring compressor, a filter crusher and a tooling store in one welded frame — on castors, so it goes to the bay instead of the bay coming to it.

The Workshop Mate WSM4 Workstation seen from the front three-quarter: a mobile 30,000kg air/hydraulic workshop press with perforated safety guards, a side-mounted spring compressor, an on-board tooling rack and an air/hydraulic foot pump.

Part by part

Explore the workstation

Eight things this frame does that a press on its own does not. Pick a marker to light that part up and see it close.

Winch-raised bed

Winch-raised bed

The bed is winched up and down, not wrestled. Eight locking heights at 85mm increments give a 224–819mm working range, so you set the press to the job instead of working around it.

See it work

More than just a press

A few minutes with the machine says more than a specification table can. Watch the bed winch up, the guards close, a strut go into the side-mounted spring compressor and a filter go flat — all from the one frame, without moving the car.

A used oil filter being crushed under the WSM4’s main ram on the filter crushing assembly.

And one more job

It crushes your old filters

The filter crushing assembly puts the same thirty tonnes to work on used oil filters, squeezing the oil out for clean, compliant disposal and shrinking a bin full of filters down to almost nothing. A waste-handling job the workstation absorbs, instead of one more thing taking up a corner.

The WSM4’s changeover lever and pressure gauge, beside the placard reading PRESS / SPRING COMPRESSOR and warning never to exceed 600 bar.

One pump, two rams

Press, or spring compressor

One foot pump feeds both rams. The lever on the column selects which one gets the pressure, and the gauge beside it reads the load you are actually applying, so you work to a number instead of to feel. Retract the ram fully before you switch, and never take it past the 600 bar printed on the placard.

Capability

Everything it replaces

Four machines, a tooling cabinet and a filter crusher, built into one frame that fits where a press already sits.

30,000kg air/hydraulic press

295mm of ram stroke, 140mm with the standard load cap fitted, driven by a 10,000psi foot pump on shop air and ISO32 oil.

10,000kg spring compressor

Side-mounted with its own gauge and claw rack, rated for most coil springs up to 3,500kg GVM.

Filter crushing assembly

Used oil filters crushed on the spot, so the oil is recovered and the waste goes out flat.

Dozens of tooling options

Sleeves, adapters, collars, V-blocks and separators, so there is a right contact face for the part.

On-board tooling storage

An integrated storage post keeps every adapter on the machine and off the bench.

Winch-operated bed

Eight locking bed heights at 85mm increments across a 224–819mm range, raised and lowered on a winch.

Full-width safety guards

Perforated steel guards close across the work area and swing clear when you need the bed.

Mobile on castors

A 1820 × 1170 × 820mm frame on braked castors — it moves to the bay the job is already in.

Intended use

Built for the jobs that tie up a bay

The WSM4 is designed around suspension and driveline work — the pressing, compressing and separating that otherwise walks a car between three machines.

  • Front struts
  • Rear axles
  • 4x4 struts
  • Bushes
  • Ball joints
  • Hubs
  • Wheel bearings
  • Suspension
The tooling supplied with the WSM4: press sleeves, adapters, collars, V-blocks, bearing separators and spring compressor claws.

In the box

It arrives ready to work

Sleeves, adapters, collars, separators, V-blocks and spring claws come with the machine and stow on it. On the WSM4 the tooling is not an accessory list — it is half the reason the thing works.
